LEARN ABOUT FULL CIRCLE
Hi, I’m Lydia Stallard, Registered Psychologist

As the founder of Full Circle Psychology, I bring over 13 years of mental health work experience from the UK and NZ.
As well as this, I have six years of formal academic training, complemented by a vast array of post-qualification professional development. My professional journey has been shaped by diverse work environments. I've worked in settings ranging from addiction rehabilitation, health promotion and forensic services to primary care clinics, ACC-contracted services and private practice.
Throughout my career, I've supported individuals at every life stage - adults, adolescents, children and whole families -developing a comprehensive understanding of psychological wellbeing. This experience naturally led me toward specialised training in areas like psychological trauma and family violence, alongside developing skills in training and facilitation, including certification to teach suicide intervention techniques.
Throughout my career, I've found myself drawn to understanding and supporting women's health issues.
My passion for women's health has taken me beyond clinical practice to contribute to broader conversations about women's wellbeing. I've participated in initiatives including a UK National Commission examining how family violence affects mental wellbeing, helping to inform policy and practice in this crucial area.
This commitment to women's health led me to co-found Haven Health Collective in 2022, with pelvic health physiotherapist, Celia Tomlinson. Our vision was to create integrated physical and psychological care for women’s and pelvic health. While my focus has recently since evolved toward my own specialised perinatal and women's mental health work, I continue to provide in-person sessions at Haven, maintaining this valuable connection to holistic women's health services.
PARENTING SUPPORT
My practice has evolved over time to also specialise in motherhood support.
My approach has been shaped by training with Dr. Sophie Brock, a motherhood studies sociologist, alongside my background in critical health psychology and sociology. This combination taught me to see beyond individual struggles to the bigger picture of what's really happening.
Rather than treating personal challenges in isolation, I work with both psychological and sociological understanding. This means addressing not just how you're feeling, but examining the systems that create stress for māmā and whānau in the first place - like workplace penalties for caregiving, structural inequalities and impossible cultural standards about "perfect motherhood."
This integrated approach recognises that mothers aren't just individuals who are struggling - you're navigating systems that consistently under-support and under-value maternal work while demanding impossible standards. Understanding these broader forces is essential because they profoundly shape your daily experience and wellbeing.
